Focus on the 46th

Senator Camera Bartolotta take us on a trip back in time to the century-old W.A.Young and Sons Foundry and Machine Shop built on the banks of the Monongahela River at Rices Landing, PA. Newly designated as a National Historic Landmark the foundry built in 1900 has remained incredibly unchanged since the days it serviced the riverboat, railroad and mining industries.

This month we highlight the Greater Washington County Food Bank. We start at the Thrift Store which supports the food bank. Later Sous Chef Chad Rogers from Bella Sera and Senator Bartolotta prepare a delicious meal using items found in the box’s distributed by the food bank – and a few fresh ingredients from their garden. Follow along and prepare your own healthy meal.

Senator Camera Bartolotta takes us on a behind the scenes tour of the Highmark Caring Place in Pittsburgh, a center that offers services at no charge for grieving children, adolescents and their families. There are four facilities in western and central Pennsylvania. The first facility was built in Pittsburgh in 1997. A facility serving the Erie region followed in 2001, another in the Harrisburg area opened in 2003 and the most recent facility serving the Cranberry region was built in 2009.

Senator Camera Bartolotta takes us on a special holiday toy factory tour in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Channel Craft has been manufacturing American crafted toys, games and puzzles for over 30 years right here in Washington County.

Senator Camera Bartolotta visits the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Cecil Township, Washington County. The cemetery has space available to accommodate casketed and cremated remains.
