HARRISBURG – The Impact Fee tax on unconventional natural gas wells will once again deliver millions of dollars in funding to communities and projects throughout the 46th Senatorial District, including Washington and Greene counties and parts of Beaver County, according to Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46).
Impact Fee taxes are levied in addition to regular business taxes paid by every corporation in Pennsylvania. The disbursements were based on a formula established in Act 13 of 2012 to ensure communities affected by drilling receive their fair share of funding for projects such as road and bridge repairs, housing and other infrastructure needs.
The Impact Fee tax provides funding to the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which in turn has generated nearly $38 million in grants for the 46th Senatorial District.
The latest 46th District’s impact fee distribution allocates:
- $824,509 to Beaver County.
- $193,165 to Beaver County municipalities (46th District portion).
- $5.5 million to Greene County.
- $9.7 million to Greene County municipalities.
- $7.8 million to Washington County.
- $13.5 million to Washington County municipalities.
“The natural gas industry continues to deliver substantial benefits to our region,” said Bartolotta. “Washington and Greene counties remain among the top recipients of Impact Fee revenue statewide, and three municipalities in the 46th District ranked among the top six in Pennsylvania for Impact Fee distributions this year. These funds allow communities to invest in critical local services, conservation programs and infrastructure projects that improve residents’ quality of life, all without placing additional costs on local taxpayers.”
With the 2025 distribution, the natural gas industry, which provides thousands of family-sustaining jobs, has paid $3.12 billion in impact fees since 2012.
