Bartolotta Supports Sending Responsible Budget Plan to Governor’s Desk

HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) issued the following statement today following her vote in favor of sending a responsible $30.2 billion spending plan to Governor Wolf’s desk:

“The budget impasse has inflicted pain on the people we are elected to serve and help, and there is nothing to be gained by any party dragging the process out any longer. We need to resolve this crisis as soon as possible and get money flowing to our schools and service providers without further delay. Throughout the budget process, my priority has been to create a spending plan that supports state government operations without increasing taxes. My position on the issue of spending and taxes has never wavered. I remain steadfast in my commitment to voting against any broad-based taxes. That is why I have and continue to advocate for responsible spending and other sources of revenue in place of higher taxes on our working families.

“I had hoped for a broader agreement that included much-needed changes to the public employee pension systems in order to prevent taxpayers from shouldering enormous new financial burdens. It is extremely unfortunate that we were unable to reach an agreement that was suitable to all parties, but I will continue to work toward this goal in the weeks to come.”
