Bartolotta Announces More Than $5.7 Million in Grants for Greene and Washington Counties

HARRISBURG — Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) announced today more than $5.7 million in state grants have been awarded to communities across the 46th Senatorial District through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) Program.

The funding will support a wide range of projects focused on public safety, infrastructure, environmental protection, municipal services and recreational improvements in Greene and Washington counties.

“These grants will help local governments tackle important projects that might otherwise be out of reach due to significant costs,” Bartolotta said. “Whether it’s improving public safety, protecting our environment or creating better spaces for families and residents to enjoy, this funding is a direct investment in the strength and quality of life of our communities.”

The LSA Program uses gaming revenue to support projects that advance community improvement, public interest and economic development. The following projects were awarded funding:

Greene County

  • Greene County will receive $265,000 for the Greene County Tourism Assets Improvement Project. The funding will support roof repairs at the Greene County Fairgrounds arena barn in Waynesburg Borough and the roller rink building at Mon View Park in Greensboro Borough, helping preserve key tourism destinations and community gathering spaces.
  • Greensboro Monongahela Township Joint Sewer Authority will receive $85,000 for sewer system improvements in Greensboro Borough. The project will rehabilitate key sewer infrastructure, including lining manholes between Maple Ridge Road and Stoney Hill Road and upgrades at the wastewater treatment plant. These improvements will enhance treatment efficiency, reduce environmental impacts and protect local water resources.
  • Jefferson Township will receive $485,140 to construct a five-bay storage building to protect road equipment and vehicles, ensuring more efficient public service and emergency response.
  • Perry Township will receive $85,198 for community center upgrades, including roof replacement, door improvements, installation of a generator and bathroom renovations to address safety and accessibility concerns.
  • Perry Township, on behalf of the Mount Morris Community Volunteer Fire Company, will receive $35,732 for a fire department heating upgrade, replacing an outdated water heater to improve energy efficiency and allow the station to continue serving as a warming center during emergencies. 

Washington County

  • Bentleyville Borough will receive $167,683 to construct two new playground areas at Richardson Park, including play equipment, safety surfacing and site improvements, expanding recreation opportunities for local families.
  • Brownsville Township will receive $286,819 for the purchase of a street sweeper that will be used in Brownsville Township, Brownsville Borough and West Brownsville Borough to remove debris and improve roadway safety and cleanliness.
  • Canonsburg Borough, on behalf of the Canonsburg Educational and Cultural Institute, Inc., will receive $294,000 for the CECI Auditorium Development Project. The funding will support the transformation of the former Canon-McMillan Middle School into a multi-purpose cultural and educational facility, including an auditorium and event spaces. Improvements include HVAC and mechanical upgrades, enhanced audio and lighting systems, accessibility improvements, lobby and restroom renovations and parking lot expansion to meet ADA requirements.
  • Canonsburg Borough will receive $225,000 to replace two existing mid-block crosswalks and construct one new crosswalk along Pike Street, featuring PennDOT-compliant striping, upgraded signage and pedestrian-activated rectangular rapid flashing beacons to improve safety.
  • Canton Township will receive $165,000 for the Miller Road Culvert Replacement Project. The funding will be used to replace five severely deteriorated culverts and complete paving restoration along Miller Road, enhancing roadway safety and supporting the final phase of a larger stream and flood mitigation effort along Logpile Run.
  • Centerville Borough will receive $200,000 for the New Hill Road Slip Repair Project. The project will reconstruct a section of New Hill Road that was damaged during flooding in May 2024, restoring full access for residents, businesses and emergency services while improving long-term road stability.
  • Donora Borough will receive $350,000 to construct a new public works facility. The project will provide secure, centralized space for equipment storage, vehicle maintenance and repairs, improving efficiency and protecting valuable assets.
  • Houston Borough will receive $188,059 for the Houston Borough Streambank Rehabilitation Project, which will stabilize erosion along Chartiers Creek at Houston Ballfield Park to improve safety and prevent further environmental damage.
  • Monongahela City will receive $100,000 for the Mounds Park Area Stormsewer Replacement Project. The funding will support replacement of deteriorated stormwater pipes and catch basins near Mounds Park, helping prevent system failures and reduce flooding risks for nearby neighborhoods.
  • New Eagle Borough, on behalf of the New Eagle Volunteer Fire Department, will receive $200,000 for 2025 Social Hall Building Improvements. The project will replace the facility’s roof and mechanical systems, ensuring the building remains safe, code-compliant and available for emergency response, public sheltering, voting and community use.
  • North Franklin Township will receive $75,000 for the Waterside Park Comfort Station Project. The funding will support construction of an ADA-compliant comfort station with family restrooms, universal changing stations, water fountains and storage facilities as part of the township’s broader park redevelopment efforts.
  • North Strabane Township Municipal Authority will receive $95,000 for the Waterdam Farms Pump Replacement Project. The project will replace an aging pump with a new submersible chopper pump, improving reliability and ensuring continued sewer service to approximately 300 homes.
  • Peters Creek Sanitary Authority will receive $292,198 for the Church Hill Road Sewer Line Extension Project in Peters Township. The project will extend public sewer service to 43 properties currently relying on failing on-lot systems and eliminate the Old Trail Lift Station, improving public health and environmental protection.
  • Southwestern Pennsylvania Water Authority will receive $952,600 for the Lone Pine Area Water Line Extension Project in Amwell Township. The funding will support installation of approximately 4,600 linear feet of water main, providing reliable drinking water and fire protection to residents currently experiencing water quality and supply issues.
  • Speers Borough, on behalf of the Charleroi Regional Police Department, will receive $498,297 to purchase and upfit six new police vehicles, replacing an aging fleet and enhancing regional public safety and communications.
  • Union Township will receive $77,450 for the NIKE Site Building Demolition Project. The project will demolish deteriorated structures at a former Cold War-era military site, eliminating public safety hazards and allowing for future recreational or community use.
  • Union Township will receive $192,888 for streambank stabilization and restoration at Pleasant Stream Park. The project will restore approximately 350 feet of streambank, reduce erosion and improve compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Washington County Redevelopment Authority, on behalf of Canon Apartments, L.P., will receive $75,000 for the Canon Apartments Fire Panel and Security Enhancement Project in Canonsburg Borough. The project will replace an outdated fire panel and install security cameras to improve resident safety and building security.
  • Washington-East Washington Joint Authority will receive $75,000 for the Chartiers Interceptor Sewer Rehabilitation Project in South Strabane Township. The project will rehabilitate more than 7,500 linear feet of sewer using cured-in-place lining to address structural defects and improve system reliability.
  • West Brownsville Borough will receive $200,000 for the Middle Street Storm Sewer Rehabilitation Project. The funding will support storm sewer repairs, inlet and manhole replacements, and roadway resurfacing to alleviate flooding and drainage issues along Middle Street.
  • West Middletown Borough will receive $86,836 for the Park Sidewalk Connection Project. The project will install a new pedestrian sidewalk connection and ADA ramp linking Main Street to a local community park, improving accessibility and pedestrian safety.

All projects were funded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers economic development and community improvement programs throughout Pennsylvania.
