Bartolotta’s Bill Maximizing Benefit of Tax Dollars Passes Senate

HARRISBURG – Today the Senate passed legislation sponsored by Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) to improve Pennsylvanians’ financial stability and government efficiency.

Senate Bill 101 would allow for greater analysis of workforce development programs and policy by requiring data that already exists to be shared with Pennsylvania’s 22 local workforce development boards in a timely fashion.

The Department of Labor and Industry and the Center for Workforce Information and Analysis would have to share data on wages, new hires and unemployment claimants.

“Leveraging the data we already collect just makes sense—it gives us a clearer picture of what’s working and what isn’t for Pennsylvanians striving for financial independence,” Bartolotta said. “By identifying both the strengths and shortcomings of these programs, we can make smarter improvements that reach more people and ensure tax dollars are spent responsibly.”

The bill also includes technical assistance and support needed to ensure the data that is made accessible is also useful for local workforce development boards.

The bill now moves to the House of Representatives for consideration.
