Bartolotta Announces $1 Million Grant to Create Economic Opportunity in Greene County

HARRISBURG – Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) announced a $1 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) grant to drive economic growth in Greene County.

“This project will boost our local economy as people have access to additional employment opportunities and are better able to provide for their families,” Bartolotta said. “The district will see significant benefits because of the project, so I am thankful that I was able to play a part in redirecting tax dollars back to the area.”

Continuing the investment in a project that provides permanent jobs and is the start of greater things for the future in Greene County, a $1 million grant will be used to continue the investment of the Smart Sands’ transloading facility in Waynesburg. Specifically, it will be used for excavation, construction of access roads and rail subgrade. It will also pay for labor and materials to dismantle, haul and reassemble silos, a bucket elevator scale and other belts. A portion of the budget is dedicated to rail construction, which includes the laying of rail and turnouts.

RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are state-funded and cannot obtain primary funding under other state programs.
