Bartolotta Supports Establishing Clean Hydrogen Hub in 46th District

PITTSBURGH – Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) released the following statement today about the possibility of a clean hydrogen hub being established in the 46th District as Gov. Tom Wolf mentioned this week during the Pittsburgh Manufacturing Summit:

“This is the perfect opportunity to leverage Pennsylvania’s assets for the benefit of people who call our state home. Natural gas, which can be separated to produce hydrogen, is an abundant resource in the commonwealth – making Pennsylvania a great place for a clean hydrogen hub.

“We need to position Pennsylvania to attract the federal funding that is available to establish four hubs across the country. Not only is our state a competitive location given how much natural gas it has, but a hydrogen hub would provide significant family-sustaining jobs for building trade partners as pipelines and related infrastructure would need to be built.

“Unfortunately, we are all living the consequences of high energy prices and dependence on foreign energy. To protect against future price spikes, we must diversify our energy portfolio. The hydrogen hub will also deliver environmental improvements through cleaner air and reduced emissions. That is why I am excited about this potential to use our district’s natural gas.”
