State Grant Will Boost Advanced Manufacturing Job Training in Greene County

HARRISBURG – A $1 million grant from the state Department of Community and Economic Development will help expand job training efforts in Greene County for advanced manufacturing jobs, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

The grant will support job training programs in the advanced manufacturing industry at the United Mine Workers of America Career Centers, Inc. facility in Prosperity. The training center is already undergoing renovations made possible by a $3 million state grant awarded in January to repurpose the facility.

“Many workers Greene County have been affected by job losses, particularly in the coal industry. We need to provide more options to help these workers find family-sustaining jobs,” said Bartolotta, who strongly advocated for the overall project. “Completion of this training facility will be a strong step forward for the local economy and help promote our region as a leader in the manufacturing industry.”

The grant was awarded as part of the Manufacturing PA program, which was created in 2017 to promote manufacturing training programs throughout the state.
