Bartolotta’s Committee Assignments Reflect Legislative, Regional Priorities

HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) has been appointed to serve on seven Senate committees for the 2017-18 Legislative Session.

In addition to serving as Chair of the Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee, Bartolotta will continue to serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, a post she held during the 2015-16 Legislative Session.

During the previous legislative session, the committee approved legislation Bartolotta introduced to encourage the use of treated mine water in oil and gas operations and reduce the amount of fresh water needed as part of the extraction process. Her legislation was signed into law as Act 47 of 2015.

Bartolotta will also continue to serve on the Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee, Senate Transportation Committee, and Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee. Over the past two years, Bartolotta has used these committee posts to examine strategies to combat blight, review potential changes to laws governing economic development programs and casinos, approve a new law to better protect highway workers, and work to meet local infrastructure needs.

Bartolotta will also serve on the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee, which considers a variety of issues ranging from electricity rates to certain health care concerns.

“Each of these appointments offers an opportunity to make a difference for local families and local communities,” Bartolotta said. “I am excited to get to work on solving the problems that community residents share with me on a daily basis.”
