HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) issued the following statement today in response to violation notices issued by the state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to natural gas drilling companies operating in Washington and Greene Counties:
“I am thankful that the violations cited by DEP presented no threat to the environment. The DEP has been clear that these violations resulted because the companies did not meet the state’s timeline requirements for well site restoration and reduction in relation to post-production. I appreciate the Department’s efforts to monitor the remediation of well sites throughout the region, and I am pleased to know these companies are already fully cooperating with the DEP to address these concerns in accordance with state law.”
