Senator Bartolotta Committee Assignments Reflect Regional Priorities

CANONSBURG — Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) was appointed to serve on five Senate committees today that will allow her to advance a number of the top priorities of southwestern Pennsylvania communities.

Bartolotta was appointed as Vice Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, which is responsible for reviewing legislation and regulations pertaining to energy resources and development, conservation, and renewable and non-renewable resource management.

“One of my highest legislative priorities is ensuring we develop the state’s natural resources responsibly so we can grow our economy and still protect the environment,” Bartolotta said. “The Marcellus Shale industry will play a big role in the future of our state’s economy, and I am very pleased that our region will have a seat at the table as we work to create quality jobs in this industry without compromising our environmental standards.”

In addition, Bartolotta will be able to focus on job creation and community revitalization as a member of the Senate committees on Transportation, Urban Affairs & Housing, and Community, Economic & Recreational Development.

“Job creation is one of the most important issues in local communities, and all of these committees play a crucial role in fostering new economic opportunities,” Bartolotta said. “All three of these assignments will allow me to focus on proposals designed to bolster the state’s efforts to attract, create and retain family-sustaining jobs.”

Bartolotta will also serve on the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee, where she hopes to review current programs and services designed to ensure military members, both past and present, have the resources they need.
