Two State Grants Support Preservation of Local Historical Records

HARRISBURG – Two grants from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission will support the preservation of Washington County historical records, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

A $5,000 grant to the Donora Historical Society and a $4,996 grant to the Washington County Historical Society were awarded in a competitive process as part of the Historical & Archival Records Care grant program. The grant program funds projects to improve the preservation and accessibility of historically significant records maintained by local governments, historical societies and academic institutions.

“Our area is rich in history, tradition and heritage, and every effort should be made to ensure future generations have access to this information,” Bartolotta said. “This funding will be extremely helpful in ensuring our region’s history is preserved and respected for many years to come.”
