Bartolotta Responds to Water Quality Concerns in Aliquippa

ALIQUIPPA – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) issued the following statement today in response to concerns about the safety of Aliquippa’s public water system:

“Based on the feedback I have received from local residents, I continue to have serious concerns about water quality in Aliquippa. Access to clean, safe, reliable water service is a basic need, and the families who are affected by this situation deserve a solution as soon as possible.

“The Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa (MWAA) is already under special monitoring and reporting requirements from the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), and I have been in contact with DEP over the past several months to ensure proper testing is conducted to determine the extent of the problem and to figure out the next steps necessary to protect the health and safety of local families. Finding a long-term answer to this problem will remain one of my highest priorities.

“That is why I am continuing to work with DEP to ensure this problem is resolved, and I will provide updates as soon as additional information is available. In the meantime, I encourage community residents who have concerns to contact MWAA at 724-375-5525 to have their water tested and report issues to DEP online. Testing and reporting are two key elements that will help resolve these concerns.

“I appreciate all of the concerned citizens who have helped to raise awareness and bring this issue to the forefront. I will do whatever I can to work with all parties to ensure we create a better and healthier public water system, because my constituents deserve nothing less.”
