Bartolotta Releases Statement on Coronavirus School Closures

HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) released the following statement today in response to the Governor’s announcement to close all schools across the Commonwealth for a two-week period due to ongoing concerns relating to the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

“These precautions which are being taken to protect individuals, children and families are unprecedented. I recognize the need to ensure the health and safety of all Pennsylvanians but also understand the Governor’s announcement today creates questions and uncertainty for many families regarding child care and work, and even for school districts who do not have broadband access to teach students online. It is important to note that no school district will be penalized if it fails to meet the required 180 day or school hours requirement.

“I will do everything that I can to continue to share information as soon as it becomes available. My Senate offices remain open and available to the public.

“Please be sure periodically to check my website, www.senatorbartolotta.com, and social media outlets for updates on the coronavirus, as well as future events, cancellations and details relating to the opening and/or closing of my offices.”
