Grants Support Local Historical Societies, Museums

HARRISBURG – Five grants totaling more than $24,000 from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) will support historical societies and museums in Beaver, Greene and Washington counties, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

Grant recipients include:

  • Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation.
  • Historic Harmony, Inc.
  • Greene County Historical Society.
  • Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.
  • Washington County Historical Society.

“All of these local organizations play a critical role in preserving the history and heritage that makes our corner of the state unique,” Bartolotta said. “I am thankful that these grants will continue to keep these vital parts of our community open to visitors.”

The grants were awarded through PHMC’s Cultural and Historical Support Grant program, which is designed to strengthen the state’s museum community and support the primary financial needs and operating expenses of museums and historical societies that are not supported by other state funding programs.

PHMC awarded a total of nearly $2 million in grants to 153 museums and historical societies across the state in the current round of funding.
