PENNVEST Loan to Finance Sewer System Upgrades in Union Township

HARRISBURG — A loan of more than $593,000 from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) will lead to critical improvements to the sewer system in Union Township, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

The project will include the installation of 2,600 feet of sewer line, 16 manholes and lateral services to extend sewer service to 26 households along Library Road and Overlook Street.

“More than half of the properties in this area have sewage systems that are malfunctioning,” Bartolotta said. “This funding will help to correct these issues and ensure the health and wellbeing of community residents is protected.”

The total project cost is estimated to be approximately $843,000. The project previously received a $250,000 grant to cover the additional cost.
