State Grants Support Greene County Recreation, Sewage Projects

HARRISBURG – State grants will support two public recreation projects and a sewage facility upgrade in Greene County, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

A $15,180 grant will assist in sewage facility upgrades around the active 1-79 interchange at Ruff Creek in Washington Township. Numerous malfunctioning on-lot septic systems have inhibited commercial growth and development in the area.

A $50,000 grant will support the dredging of the Pumpkin Run boat launch in Rices Landing Borough to remove silt that prevented the opening of the boat launch and the installation of public docks this year.

A $200,000 grant will help extend the existing Greene River Trail in Cumberland Township by an additional 2.2 miles along the Monongahela River.

The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development that administers Pennsylvania’s economic development programs.
