Bartolotta Announces $1M Grant for Donora Redevelopment Project

HARRISBURG – A proposed redevelopment project that will bring much-needed jobs to Donora Borough received a $1 million boost from the Commonwealth, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

Tech Met Properties was awarded the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant to renovate a former industrial site in the Donora Industrial Park, according to Bartolotta, who strongly advocated for the project.

The company, which currently operates out of four leased areas in Allegheny County, provides high-quality chemical milling services on fabricated components for the aerospace, medical and defense markets.

“The growth that Tech Met is experiencing requires additional space to allow the company to expand its operations,” said Bartolotta. “More manufacturing space and new equipment lines are necessary to fulfill added business from both new and existing customers. This expansion project will provide Tech Met with the space and resources it needs to grow, which in turn also helps support our manufacturing industry in Pennsylvania.”

The company plans to immediately use about two-thirds of the existing building, which will allow 28,800 square-feet for future growth. The project is expected to create more than 40 new, full-time jobs over the next five years.

“This will create high-salary positions in an area with a high unemployment rate,” said Bartolotta. “Beyond that, the project will generate substantial tax revenue and contribute to the continued growth of the high-tech and advanced manufacturing segments of Pennsylvania’s economy.”
