Bartolotta Applauds Passage of On-Time, Responsible Budget

HARRISBURG –Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) issued the following statement today after voting in favor of the 2018-19 state budget:

“This plan represents what we can accomplish when we set aside partisan ideology and gamesmanship and focus on getting the job done. I am extremely pleased that we were able to pass a budget on time without the need for a tax increase, and the total spending is below the rate of inflation and falls within the limits proposed in the Taxpayer Bill of Rights. This is an approach we should emulate every year.

“We are in better financial shape this year because we rejected Governor Wolf’s calls for new spending and tax increases in the three previous years.

“I appreciate the fact that Governor Wolf and legislative leaders approached this year’s budget process with a willingness to compromise and negotiate in good faith. As a result, we have a plan that meets the core responsibilities of government, increases funding for education and school safety, restores cuts to critical state services and helps prepare the workforce for the careers of today and tomorrow. I am pleased that we were able to accomplish all of these things without the need to take more money out of the pockets of taxpayers.”
