Washington County Airport Receives State Funding for Safety Improvements

HARRISBURG – Two grants totaling $2 million will help finance projects to improve safety at the Washington County Airport, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

One grant will help finance the construction of a new taxiway at a total cost of $1.7 million, and the other grant will aid in the construction of a second section of taxiway at a cost of $933,000.

The funding was awarded through PennDOT’s Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, which is a capital budget grant program funded with bonds. Statewide, $9.8 million in grants have been awarded through the program this year, as well as $5.2 million in state funding from the Aviation Development Program.
