State Grants Awarded to PA Trolley Museum & Greene County Historical Society

HARRISBURG – Recently awarded state grants from the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) will support organizations dedicated to preserving local history in Washington and Greene counties, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

Grants totaling more than $12,800 will support the ongoing operations of the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Chartiers Township, as well as the Greene County Historical Society in Waynesburg. The funds were allocated as part of the Cultural and Historical Support Grant Program and administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission.

“These historical organizations provide excellent educational opportunities for local residents and tourists visiting the region,” Bartolotta said. “These grants will help support the mission of our museums to bring local history to life and preserve historical treasures.”

Nearly $2 million was awarded to 142 eligible museums in Pennsylvania in the most recent round of funding. The program provides general operating support to museums and official county historical societies that are not supported by other state agency funding sources.
