City of Aliquippa Approved for Community Revitalization Grant

HARRISBURG — A community revitalization grant awarded today will help the City of Aliquippa redevelop land near the Aliquippa Industrial Park, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

The $365,000 grant, awarded through the Department of Community and Economic Development’s (DCED) Keystone Communities program, will aid in the demolition of the three remaining commercial buildings on the eastern end of Franklin Avenue immediately adjacent to State Route 51.

“This grant reaffirms the economic benefits of the Aliquippa Industrial Park and the importance of clearing the way for new projects that create good-paying jobs,” Bartolotta said. “It is critical to ensure the state supports redevelopment efforts that hold the potential to improve the standard of living in our communities, and my thanks goes out to Governor Wolf and Secretary Davin and his team at DCED for investing in a project that will benefit our regional economy.”

The Keystone Communities program was created to encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors in the community, support local initiatives that grow and stabilize neighborhoods and communities, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents. Twenty-two projects across the state received a total of approximately $5.4 million in funding through the program.
