Two Washington County Projects Awarded State Grants

HARRISBURG – Two grants totaling more than $900,000 were awarded today to help ease traffic congestion in Cecil Township and assist in the development of recreational opportunities in southern Washington County, according to Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

The Commonwealth Financing Authority approved an $852,019 grant to add a right turn lane to the southbound lanes of Morganza Road at the intersection with McMurray Road, a right turn lane to the westbound lanes of McMurray Road at the same intersection, and a left turn lane to the eastbound lanes of McMurray Road at the intersection.

The grant also allows for the addition of a new traffic signal to help manage the additional traffic volume entering and exiting the proposed Cool Valley Development area.

A $50,000 grant was also awarded to Donora Borough for a feasibility study to lay the groundwork for a 53-mile trail. The project would include 28 miles of trail from Marianna to Monongahela to Donora, in addition to 25 miles of bike lane along State Route 88 from Donora to the Green River Trail near Frederickstown.
