Senate Approves Memorial to Slain Canonsburg Officer

HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) released the following statement today after the Senate passed legislation designating a bridge on State Route 980 over the Chartiers Creek in Canonsburg Borough in honor of Officer Scott L. Bashioum, who was killed in the line of duty last year while responding to a domestic violence incident:

“Officer Bashioum tragically lost his life while protecting others, and my prayers remain with his family and all who loved him. His loss was serious blow to the Canonsburg community and served as another stark reminder of the dangers posed by domestic violence and the importance of addressing this horrible crime.

“Officer Bashioum’s selfless service to his country and the Canonsburg community should serve as an inspiration for generations to come, and I applaud my colleagues in the House and Senate for honoring him with his bridge designation. His service and sacrifice deserves to be recognized, and I appreciate the bipartisan support for this memorial to one of the community’s true heroes.”
