PUC Hearing in Washington County to Examine Water Rate Increase Request

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is inviting local residents to offer testimony and statements regarding a rate increase request from Pennsylvania-American Water Company, according to Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

The public input hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 24, at 1 p.m. in Room 103 of the Washington County Building, which is located at 11 W. Beau Street in Washington. The hearing provides residents of local communities an opportunity to testify or offer unsworn statements regarding the proposed rate increase. The hearing is one of nine meetings scheduled throughout the state in the coming weeks.

Participants do not have to register in advance, but should arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes early to sign in.

Pennsylvania-American Water Company has requested a 16-percent rate hike that could take effect as soon as 2018 following the PUC’s investigation.
