Local Senior Centers Receive State Grants

HARRISBURG – Senior facilities in Carmichaels and Waynesburg will receive state grants to support continued services for older Pennsylvanians, according to Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46).

As part of the latest round of grants announced this week, the Carmichaels Activity Center will receive $66,948 in funding, and the Waynesburg Community Center will receive a $47,850 award. Each grant will help establish and maintain a “Creative Aging Arts Program, Center without Walls” program.

“Our local senior centers play a critical role in improving the quality of life of many older state residents, but finding the necessary funding to offer a wide variety of opportunities for seniors often present a challenge,” Bartolotta said. “I am thankful that these grants will help support the mission of two outstanding senior centers in our area.”

The grants were awarded as part of the Senior Center Community Center Grant Program administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The program helps senior centers fund renovations, repairs, equipment, furnishings, property acquisition, construction, administration, fundraising and other senior center activities and programs.
