Senator Bartolotta Comments on Donora-Monessen Bridge Announcement

HARRISBURG – Senator Camera Bartolotta (R-46) issued the following statement today in response to PennDOT’s announcement that the Donora-Monessen Bridge ramps would stay open during reconstruction this summer:

“PennDOT’s revised approach to the Donora-Monessen Bridge reconstruction project is welcome news for communities that would have been negatively impacted by a prolonged total closure of both bridge ramps. Keeping these ramps partially open should help prevent lengthy detours for emergency responders and avoid a serious inconvenience for local motorists.

“Although this new course of action will extend the time period to complete the project, the benefits in terms of public safety and convenience for motorists are greatly appreciated. The updated plan would not have been possible without the input and active participation of Donora Mayor Don Pavelko and other local elected officials, emergency responders and the staff of PennDOT District 12. I am thankful that this cooperative process resulted in a positive outcome for residents of neighboring communities.”
